HOUSE FOR AN ASTRONOMER AND GEOLOGIST

2018-2019

Chipboard, Balsa, Foamcore board, Sculpting Foam, Wood Stain, Acrylic, Acetate

19"x12"x6"

As a student in the Architecture and Design Program at Montclair High School, I designed, drafted and modeled a house in Utah for an astronomer and geologist.

The structure had to be suspended between two rock outcroppings over a river. The exposed rock on the interior, domed observatory, greenhouse and crescent-shaped bridge all pay homage to the concept of a house for the scientists.

During the project, I explored numerous concepts, including landscape design and separating private and public areas through changes in elevation.
